Ideas are meant to shared. There are great ideas and terrible ideas but you learn from the good and the bad ones. This is a idea that we have found to be a good one, it’s called a “TOAST BAR.”
Each Sunday morning our volunteers get up early to come serve at our church. Most of the time it’s so early that breakfast is not an option. They get their kids out of bed and jump in the car using all the energy they had saved up. They deserve to know that we as a church has their back and that we try to think through everything. So our children’s ministry team has set up a simple, easy to maintain, inexpensive bar of bread, jellies and more. Each week gathering together to pray and eat. they walk away feeling informed, loved and part of a team making a difference each week in the lives of these kids.
Great ideas are meant to be shared. Here’s a TOAST to all Volunteers. Thank you!
This past week has been what I have been calling my birthday weekend. I started pushing a week or weekend festivities a few years ago and it has been hands down one of the best things I have ever done. Let me explain, I got this idea from a friend of mine that ever since I have known him celebrates a whole week. I started watching how he pulls off a whole week of celebration and I started to realize it was more than just a selfish antic. He uses his week to invest in the lives of others.
He starts off promoting his birthday as “Birthday Week” a few weeks out by bragging that it is coming up or that he wants to do certain things for his birthday week. When he does that it creates conversation amongst his friends and co-workers. Once people start to catch on they start inviting him to places or things that would make for a fun time, like sports games, restaurants, parties, and before you know it his week is filled up, something to do every day or every night. Each event he has the chance to invest in the lives of others. This is a way to build relationships disguised by a selfish birthday week antic. This idea is so brilliant, I had to give it a try.
I started doing this a few years back and through it all, I have met new people, built relationships with friends that I currently have and done things that are strong memories etched in my brain. It’s your birthday, make memories!
